What Does a Yacht Charter in Croatia Really Cost?

Sailing along the Croatian coast

Last reviewed: 31 August 2026

The advertised yacht price is only the starting point of a Croatian charter budget. The final cost depends on the yacht, dates, departure base, crew arrangement, route and the extras included by the individual operator.

As a practical rule, divide the budget into six parts: yacht rental, obligatory charter extras, skipper or crew, security deposit or damage waiver, fuel and moorings, and travel and provisioning.

1. The yacht rental price

The largest expense is the weekly charter price. It can vary enormously between April, the peak summer weeks and October. Yacht age, size, number of cabins, equipment and departure base also affect the rate.

A small sailing yacht outside peak season may be available from roughly €1,000 per week, while a modern catamaran or luxury motor yacht can cost many thousands more. This is a market illustration, not a quote for a specific yacht.

2. Obligatory charter package or transit log

Most Croatian charters have a mandatory package payable per booking or at the base. Depending on the operator, it may be called a transit log, charter package, comfort package or service pack.

3. Skipper, hostess or full crew

For a bareboat charter, the skipper must hold original qualifications accepted for the selected yacht and Croatian waters, including the required VHF certificate. If nobody in the group qualifies, a professional skipper is required. Published 2026 examples commonly show skipper fees around €220–€250 per day, with food paid separately.

4. Security deposit and damage waiver

Bareboat charters normally require a refundable security deposit. Depending on the yacht and insurance terms, a base may place a credit-card authorisation of approximately €1,000–€4,000 or more. Deposit insurance may reduce the hold, but exclusions still apply.

5. Fuel, moorings and route costs

The charter price usually excludes fuel and overnight berths away from the home marina. Anchoring in a permitted bay can be free; buoy fields, municipal quays and full-service marinas charge according to their own tariffs.

A flexible route can combine anchorages, buoys, town quays and marinas.

6. Tourist tax, food, transport and optional extras

Nautical tourist tax is compulsory. Croatia’s official tourist information currently states €1.33 per person per day when paid by number of persons. Also allow for airport transfers, provisioning, restaurants, optional equipment, early check-in and travel insurance.

Example budget structure for one week

Cost item How to calculate it
Yacht rental Quoted weekly price after confirmed discount
Mandatory package Exact amount on the selected yacht offer
Skipper or crew Daily fee × contracted days, plus food
Deposit Refundable hold or damage-waiver cost
Fuel and berths Yacht type and planned route
Travel and provisioning Crew size and travel arrangements
